Description

4 Way Cross Pipe Fitting | Durable & High-Pressure Rated

A 4 way cross pipe fitting is a four-port pipe connector, used to realize four-way flow splitting or converging in vertically intersecting pipeline systems.
Different from the common tee, the pipe cross features a symmetrical cross-shaped structure. It is suitable for scenarios requiring uniform flow distribution, such as fire sprinkler systems, gas distribution, hydraulic systems and industrial cooling circuits.

Material & Manufacturing Standards

AIFN adopts malleable iron complying with ASTM A197/A197M as the base material to guarantee high strength and impact resistance. For corrosive environments, hot-dip galvanized surface treatment is available, namely galvanized pipe cross fitting. Its zinc coating thickness meets ASTM A153 specifications, withstanding 500 hours of salt spray testing without red rust formation. For sensitive applications requiring threaded connection, the cross threaded pipe is designed in accordance with ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 standards, and NPT taper pipe threads ensure tight sealing and stable engagement.
4 way cross pipe fitting Parameter Table
Parameter Item Specification Range
Nominal Diameter 1/8″ – 4″ (DN6 – DN100)
Common Sizes 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1¼″, 1½″, 2″
Pressure Class 150# / 300# (300 psi – 1200 psi)
Operating Temperature -30°C to +200°C (Galvanized); -30°C to +350°C (Black Iron)
Thread Type NPT, BSPT, BSPP (Optional)
Wall Thickness Schedule 40 / Schedule 80
Taking 3/4″ galvanized cross fitting as an example, its measured burst pressure exceeds 4500 psi with a safety factor of 4:1. It is widely applied in civil and commercial low-pressure pipelines for steam, water, oil and air.

Features & Manufacturing Technology of 4 way cross pipe fitting

  1. Precision Threads: Processed by CNC turning, the thread taper error is controlled within ±1°. Zero leakage can be achieved with PTFE tape or pipe thread sealant.
  2. Porosity-Free Casting: The composition of molten iron from each furnace is inspected by high-frequency spectrum analyzers to ensure the content ratio of carbon, silicon, manganese, sulfur and phosphorus conforms to the optimal proportion for casting alloys.

Black Iron & Galvanized Options

The black iron pipe cross is applicable to welding and indoor dry environments. For outdoor or humid pipeline conditions, galvanized pipe cross fitting is recommended to provide sacrificial anode protection.

Application Scenarios of 4 way cross pipe fitting

  • Agricultural Irrigation: Four branch pipes can be connected simultaneously to reduce the total number of pipe fittings.
  • Building Construction: Cross connection of horizontal and vertical scaffolding poles.
  • Petrochemical Industry: Instrument air distribution manifold.
  • Fire Protection Systems: Balanced flow splitting points in loop network.

FAQ for Buyers

Q1: Can non-standard size cross fittings be customized? For example, a 1-inch main pipe connected with 3/4-inch branch pipes.

A: Standard pipe cross comes with four ports in identical sizes. Custom reducing cross is available on request. Common customized combinations include 1″ NPT main channel with 1/2″ or 3/4″ side branches.

Q2: Galling often occurs during the installation of cross threaded pipe, how to prevent this problem?

A: Tiny deviations in thread processing may cause cold welding during the assembly of stainless steel or galvanized pipe fittings. Our targeted solutions are as follows:

① Apply molybdenum disulfide anti-seize compound on thread surfaces;

② Control tightening torque (60-80 N·m recommended for 3/4″ NPT, no more than 100 N·m);

③ Use PTFE tape between stainless steel and galvanized components.

No risk of dissimilar metal electrochemical corrosion will occur when connecting black iron pipe cross with galvanized pipes.
