Description

Stainless Steel Eccentric Reducer for Piping ASME B16.9

The stainless steel eccentric reducer is a critical component used in piping systems to connect pipes of different diameters. Unlike the concentric reducer, it features an offset centerline with a level top or bottom. This structural design effectively prevents liquid accumulation and gas trapping in horizontal pipelines, making it highly suitable for conveying media containing condensate, gas or slurry.
AIFN products are manufactured in strict accordance with ASME B16.9 and ASTM A403 standards, covering a full range of wall thickness schedules from Sch10S to Sch80S, ensuring perfect seamless compatibility with your piping systems.

Material, Connection & Pressure Class

Material: High-quality austenitic stainless steel including 304/304L and 316/316L. With added molybdenum element, 316L delivers superior pitting resistance in chloride-rich environments, ideal for marine engineering and chemical medium transportation.
Connection Method: Butt-weld ends are adopted as standard. Custom Socket-weld and Threaded connections are available upon request. The butt-weld design achieves equal-strength connection with main pipelines through full penetration welding, eliminating potential leakage risks.
Pressure Class: Compatible with pipeline pressure ratings from 150LB to 2500LB, corresponding to wall thickness schedules ranging from Sch10 to Sch160. All products undergo hydrostatic testing and random radiographic inspection before delivery to guarantee pressure-bearing performance in line with design specifications.
Features of Stainless Steel Eccentric Reducer
  1. Eccentric Geometry Design

The flat-bottom or flat-top structure enables smooth medium transition at the pipeline base, avoiding turbulence and vibration caused by sudden flow velocity changes. For steam systems, eccentric installation guides condensed water to flow toward liquid collection pockets.

  2. Corrosion & High Temperature Resistance

The stainless steel substrate forms a stable passive film in oxidizing acid and alkaline media. Its operating temperature ranges from -196°C to 600°C (304/316L materials with impact testing are required for low-temperature service).

  3. Precision Forming Technology

Fabricated by cold extrusion or hot pushing processes with uniform wall thickness. The internal and external surface roughness reaches Ra≤3.2μm. The bore section is free of folds and cracks, meeting strict cleanliness requirements for fluid transportation.

  4. Full-size Traceability Marking

Each product is laser marked with material grade, heat number, manufacturing standard and pressure class, realizing full life-cycle traceability.

Application Scenarios of Stainless Steel Eccentric Reducer
  1. Petrochemical Pipelines

In horizontal pipelines of catalytic cracking and hydrogenation units, the ss eccentric reducer prevents the accumulation of residual hydrogen sulfide and aqueous phase media at reducing sections.

  2. Pharmaceutical & Food Sanitary Systems

Electropolished stainless cone reducer features dead-zone-free inner walls to meet CIP on-site cleaning standards.

  3. Seawater Cooling & Desulfurization Systems

316L grade pipe reducer stainless steel resists corrosion from chloride ions and low pH working conditions.

  4. Oil & Gas Gathering Pipelines

Heavy-duty stainless reducers are widely used in high-pressure sections to connect christmas trees and separators with different caliber specifications.
