Description
Pipe Cap Weld: Secure Pipeline Termination
Material & Manufacturing Standard
-
Common Materials
Carbon Steel: ASTM A234 WPB
Stainless Steel: ASTM A403 WP304 / WP316 / 316L
Low-temperature Steel: ASTM A420 WPL6
-
Production Process
Formed by cold stamping or hot pressing; end bevel processed in accordance with ASME B16.9.
-
Nondestructive Testing
100% ultrasonic thickness measurement + magnetic particle inspection (MT);
Critical order batches are supplemented with radiographic testing (RT) for higher safety requirements.
Connection Method
The pipe cap end is prefabricated with U-type or V-type bevel to match pipe ends, enabling on-site circumferential welding. The integrated welded structure removes gaskets and thread gaps, perfectly suitable for pipelines with frequent vibration and drastic temperature fluctuation.
Core Features of Weldable Pipe Cap
-
Zero Leakage Sealing
Weld strength coefficient exceeds 0.85 per GB/T 20801 standard, realizing permanent tight sealing.
-
High Pressure Resistance
Covers pressure classes from CL150 to CL2500 (PN20~PN420), meeting heavy-duty industrial requirements.
-
Full Size Coverage
Size ranges from 1/2″ to 48″, with customized maximum size up to 64″.
4 inch weld on pipe cap is the standard option for industrial cooling water and medium-pressure steam lines.
-
Excellent On-site Weldability
All units are qualified weldable pipe caps. Bevel angle tolerance ≤±2.5°, no secondary cutting or processing needed for quick installation.

Professional Selection Tip
FAQ:
Q1: Can I use a weldable pipe cap on a threaded pipe end?
A: No. Weldable pipe caps are designed for butt-welding to plain-end pipes. If your pipe has threaded ends, you would need a threaded cap or an adapter. Direct welding onto threads will cause cracking due to stress concentration. Always match connection types.
Q2: How do I select the correct wall thickness for a 4 inch weld on pipe cap?
A: The cap wall thickness should match or exceed the pipe’s schedule (e.g., SCH40 pipe needs a SCH40 cap). For high-pressure systems (above ANSI 600), we recommend moving up one schedule (e.g., SCH80) and conducting a hydrostatic test post-welding.
